The Watcher from Above [SOLO]

My first test, my first criminal, all of the training is hopefully going to pay off here and now.

I chased that, well for the sake of his name I'll call him "thug". I chased that "thug" through the main plaza and into the market place. As he ran through, you could hear nothing but "Hey!", "watch it!" and "you're insane!". He won't escape me, he can't escape me, I am in control. He was fast, I would be faster, there was an alley way coming up on the left, approximately 400 ft from our current position.

"You won't catch me bitch!" the thug yelled back at me. "Bitch", he had just made a serious mistake by saying such a word to me. Nyx had did a short wall run and jumped towards the thug, she tackled him. "Get away from me!" he yelled and punched her in the face. "Ahh, ssssss." Nyx said as she felt the blood trickle down her upper lip. "I'm in control, I am in control." Nyx said to herself, getting up and chasing after the thug once again. 200 ft remained.

I stopped, rose up on one leg and threw open my arms. He will not get away from me, this is for that woman. "Winds, calm and serene." Nyx said as the sky suddenly turned a dark and ominous gray. The winds kicked up to over 45 MPH. The thug stopped, he better had, he turned towards me. "You... You'll get arrested." he said as he stuttered and sweated. "I don't care." Nyx said as she went down on one knee and clapped her hands together.

It was quite a sight to see, the criminal went flying through the air, being whipped at every direction by the winds and tossed into the alleyway.

"The feeling of your heart sinking. It's better to be broken than to break."

That felt good, helping that woman out when it was needed. If only more people could do the same, instead of letting filth like that run our cities and our actions.

Crime has sky rocketed in this city. Death rates are up 45%, in a matter of a month and a half. It was hard for me to keep sitting idly by while this continues. I would read the newspaper online everyday, headlines would read "3 dead, 9 wounded", "10 dead, 2 wounded". The feeling of your heart dropping, knowing that these poor souls were lost and no longer to a body because of the senseless violence that we have harbored here. Nyx goes and sits down on a bench near a juice stand. She watches the woman that she helped walk past with her husband.

"Stay safe." Nyx says quietly. I must continue to do what I do. I do it because no one else will. I am no different than any other person that walks the ground we have come to know. They can train just as hard, and for just as long. The clock strikes 3:05, "Hmm," Nyx said to herself. "Excuse me sir," she said as she turned to the man running the juice stand. "Yes?" he said in reply, nice tone of voice at that. "When does the concert start?" asked Nyx. "It should be starting at around 6:00." he said as he looked from his watch. "Thank you, sir." Nyx said in return and walked away.

She thought to herself. "The concert, is a perfect place for something to go down, and knowing this place, it surely will," she stopped, and thought more deeply. "No doubt this place will be crawling with law enforcement. I must stay hidden." Nyx said. I would need to be in a more appropriate attire. I must go home, and get into something with a little more stealth.

"A hero isn't born, a hero is made."

I watch, I wait. I have to wait... I have, to wait.

The plaza's clock strikes 6:00, the concert is about to begin. I didn't care much for the name of the band, that wasn't my reason for being here. Groups of police walk the sides of the concert, some perched atop buildings with sniper rifles, some in just plain clothing. But this still won't be enough, it never is. The sun, of amber light has descended behind the tallest building around. Looking up at it, makes it seem as if it were to have a halo.

Stage lights on, crowd in full attention and excitement shouting "BRING ON THE SHOW, BRING ON THE SHOW!". The band arises from the floor, fancy, egging the crowd on they run to their instruments and microphones. Me? I'm perched a top a building directly across from the stage, I can see from the crowd to the stage. "Here we go." Nyx says to herself. The waiting game shall begin.

The crowd is surely into the performance, chanting, singing, screaming of all things. Everyone in the plaza, people, sellers, were attending the concert. I noticed something, a man, walking through the plaza with a bag. A bombing? You cannot be serious.

"I was afraid, I... I was scared."

The will to act, is probably the reason for me doing what I am doing.

He made the girl and her mother kneel to the ground. They were crying, tears of fear, cascading from their cheeks. "Don't worry, I'm going to get you out of here." Nyx said with a sweet voice, reassuring to the little girl. The man pointed his gun and the little girl. "You don't want to do this." I said to the man. "Why? What are you going to do, bitch? Bitch? Did, did he just call me--- "NEVER!" I yelled as my hair rose up into the air, and the winds swept down to the equipment room like a hurricane.

Doing this, probably wasn't the best of idea's considering that the stage above was just made out of wood. The stage ripped off like a tornado hitting trailers in a trailer park. Pieces flying high into the air, debris being thrown against every object around. I put both my hands in the air and threw the wind at the gun holder. "Whoa!" he yelled as he flew back and hit the wall. But he got up quick, ok, let's settle this. "I'm gonna punch the white right out of that hair of yours." he said to me, "Try me" I said in return.

I ran towards him, he ran towards me, we collided with a punch to the face. I stunned him though, and threw wind at his face, luckily there was some dirt in it. "Ahh my eyes!" he yelled, "Run girls, go!" I said to the girl and her mother. The girl must've escaped before a beam came crashing down, "Ahh! MOMMY!" the girl yelled. Just as that happened, flashbacks came and hit me like a train on rush hour. "I'll get her out little girl, run!" I said to the little one. I wasn't paying attention, why wasn't I paying attention?!

The man got up and hit me with a stick, collapsing me to the ground. I got up as quick as I could, my winds had died down. "One move, and I blow her head off." He said to me, he pressed the gun up to her head. "You're not going to do this." I said in reply, eyes narrow. He pointed the gun at me. He lined up his shot. He took his shot. That bullet hit me right in the my left shoulder, sending me flying to the wall. In my dazed state, I looked to see him about to pull the trigger, I was about to stand when... he shot her. He shot that girls mother, he... shot her.

I would like to do more for that little girl. I, have not done her justice.

As I propelled myself into the air, the police, of course, shot at me. They missed with every bullet. I shot off into the distance and landed on yet another rooftop. I like the view, ok? I was shot pretty bad in my shoulder, my first wound in my new endeavors. Still, I cried a bit as I patched myself up and took the bullet out of my body. That poor little girl, "I... I'm so sorry." Nyx said to herself, softly, quietly. Smoke was still rising from the area that harbored the pain. Police lights shone bright for miles and miles around.

Am, am I right for this? Or am I in over my head? "Remember your training, Nyx." I said to myself, "You are right for this, you are the only one." Next thing I know, a bright blue-white light came on like Christmas lights. Only, this was not in real life, it was in my mind. This light, is all too familiar. Could it be? Could she have returned to me?

It was time to meditate. I sat there on the rooftop, meditating. It could be her.

It just amazes me at how, it seems that people just don't care about others.

"I understand what you mean Meifang, I understood this before I had decided that I would help people," I said as I turned and looked over the rooftop, "It's just hard at times, I don't want to fail, I don't want to fail these good people." I started up a slight breeze, it always helped me feel a little better. "I know Nyx, I know," Meifang said as she walked up to. "I knew that you would be great in your life from the first moment that I met you. This, what you're doing, is living proof that my instinct was right."

"Maybe you're right," Nyx said shaking her head. "Maybe? You know it deep in your soul Nyx, you can do this, you will do this." Meifang said as she looked to her. "Of course I will, I'm fit for it. After all of my training, I know that my time to do this, is right." I finished and looked to Meifang. "You're my closest and only friend Meifang, I thank you for all that you've done." I said and gave Meifang a courtesy head tap. "Well, maybe not you're only friend." Meifang said in return to it smiling. "That may be so, but we haven't spoken for a while, me & her." I said as my winds picked up a bit. "Probably should have kept in close contact with her, she could've been a good shoulder to lean on." Meifang said.

"I have kept good contact with her, not verbal, but I know exactly where she is and what she does." Nyx said staring down to the crime scene. "I may just pay her a visit, unless my actions call her forth first."
