Cardinal Rules of Combat
Pre-Combat
For combat that is on the horizon.
Combat Underway
For combat that is currently underway.
Pre-Combat
For combat that is on the horizon.
- One is not allowed to use any item or piece of technology that they did not have prior to the date of battle.
- Having prior knowledge to a battle that is unexpected is not allowed. A surprise attack cannot be anticipated unless information is leaked about it.
- Battle is not a fast-paced action flick. It is an oxymoron of weight and fluidity, with unexpected turns and probability thrown in by whatever controls the battlefields.
- The fields of war are not the only place where one makes a difference.
- Avirama's Law is always in place when a conflict sparks. Be wary of this.
Combat Underway
For combat that is currently underway.
- When posting in combat, you must always heed to the rules of the site.
- Metagaming tactics are not allowed. Follow the rules of your thread.
- You may not be surprised, but if there is no in-game proof (threads you have been in, or flashbacks [not history]) that suggests otherwise, you cannot state that you know the mechanics of a person's power or technology. In short, experience trumps all.
- Do not use something you are not aware of to your advantage. If the opponent has a deadly illness, unless you are a doctor that can dissect the problem and trace it down to the roots, you will not be capable of using that information unless the opponent uses it in their post.
- You cannot control your opponent's character.
- You cannot state if your opponent does a certain move or not, unless they state it themselves.
- You cannot state what the position of your opponent is in relativity to you, unless they state it themselves.
- You cannot say what happens to your opponent once they do something.
- There is no godmodding allowed in the least.
- Saying that your attacks have hit. Allow your opponent leeway to dodge your attacks.
- By contrast, do not always state that attacks have missed. If your opponent has outsmarted/out-powered you, give them the honor of taking the attack.
- Do not shake off attacks as if they were nothing. A fireball to the face would be incredibly devastating.
- No one is a mind-reader (in fact, that is a banned skill). You cannot see where your opponent will be, what they will do, and how they will react. You can only predict, but never ascertain.
- Talent is not a critical existence trait, nor is it relative to battle. It is not dependent on the person you fight, nor is it dependent on the situation at hand.
- If you do not have the skill in physicality, you are not able to use it well. These are broad in the sense that one is innately able to perform physical feats, such as backflips, but is not able to do so well because they have not trained for it.
- If you do not have the skill in magic, you cannot use it at all. These are straightforward in the sense that one is simply not able to exude electrical energy if they have not studied it.
- You are not able to have any sort of skill that allows you to break critical existence, or something to that effect. If you're in a tight spot, accept what may or may not happen.
